Dr Elaine Byrne (Trinity College Dublin)
Elaine Byrne is a columnist with the Sunday Independent and has previously written for the Irish Times, The Sunday Times, the Sunday Business Post and The Guardian. She is the co-author of www.politicalreform.ie and was a co-founder of the Irish deliberative democracy project We the Citizens. Elaine has worked as a consultant on corruption for the UN, the World Bank, Transparency International and Global Integrity. Her first book, Political Corruption in Ireland 1922-2010, A Crooked Harp? was published by Manchester University Press in 2012. Elaine was an adjutant lecturer at Trinity College Dublin where she taught Comparative Political Reform and Irish Politics. She received her PhD from the University of Limerick in 2007 and is from Wicklow.
